Work Experience & Health Care Experience:
The reason I love being a nurse is because it is so rewarding to make a difference in someone’s life. It is beautiful to be able to look into a patience eyes and see the window to their soul- to know that a caring touch or word can make a difference in their lives. And to me being able to see that because of something I did to care for that person and/or family changed the way they feel, I count that as a blessing! And I’m still counting my blessings every day, and guess what? I’m getting paid for that. I thank God every day for this opportunity I have been given.
I am divorced, however, I have 3 beautiful children: Joshua-14, Bella-9, Ella-5. My favorite pastime is hanging out with my kiddos.
Krystal has been with Meadows since Feb 2015. She grew up on a farm in Northwest Iowa then attended Augustana College. She spent 9 years teaching Special Education in the Sioux Falls community. Krystal then made a career change and became a Finance Manager in the auto industry for about 16 years. She then was given this opportunity at Meadows to truly do something she is passionate about, which is helping others. Krystal is married and has one son and granddaughter. Krystal enjoys spending time with her family and making people smile.
Work Experience: Other than summer jobs and babysitting when I was a teenager all of my work experience is in health care.
I started in the health care industry in 2001 and fell in love with the environment. The residents you care for as well as the coworkers you work with become a part of your world. It's unique, chaotic and so rewarding. I have worked in three different facilities over the last 19 years. My experience includes Independent Living, Assisted Living, Full care nursing, and Alzheimer’s units. I have working experience in all areas of the dietary department. I have done dishes, bussed tables, served large parties, cooked, and now managed kitchen operations. I value this experience as it gives me an understanding and appreciation for the different roles in the dietary department.
People are my passion. I am a natural nurturer and care deeply about everyone’s quality of life. A constant goal of mine is to leave people feeling better than when I came. We all need human connection, humor, peace, understanding, empathy, and sometimes cookies to make life feel full and vibrant.
I am married to a wonderful man and we are blessed to have two daughters, one son, two dogs and a cat. I enjoy cooking, spending time with my family, watching the various games and concerts my kids are in, crafts, puzzles, movies, and watching my kids grow up.
Kristie began her health care career in 2016. She began as a medication aid, and soon advanced to Activities Director. She really enjoys getting to share her many hobbies and interested with the residents all while expanding her own knowledge base as she coordinates activities and events the residents request. One of her favorite things about working at Meadows is getting to know everyone and listening to the experiences. There is one phrase that a resident shared with her that sticks in her mind: “You live and you learn.” Kristie is married (Steve), and has three boys: Drake (7), Adam (4), and Teddy (2). They have lived in Sioux Falls for four years, and love it!
I began my work experience working at a golf course at the event center in Brandon, SD. I worked many events such as weddings, golf outings, and any kid of party! I worked there for almost 6 years and then headed off to college to begin my healthcare journey!
I have worked in healthcare for almost seven years. I started working in healthcare during college as a DSP and job coach for adults with disabilities. After college I began my career working in a nursing home as an Activity Coordinator. I soon was then challenged to take over and manage and Assisted Living Facility. After three years, I decided I really enjoyed working in assisted livings but wanted something closer to home and chose Meadows on Sycamore to be my new adventure.
My passion is gardening and spending time with my grandparents. I spend almost two hours a night in my garden making sure all is watered and weeded. I love to grow vegetables and then can or freeze my extra supplies! One of my favorite traditions is when my family all gets together and we freeze corn for the winter. My other passion is my grandparents. I love to spend time with them and simply try to make their day special. They are known for their excellent cookies and love!
After college, I got married in November 2016 to my high-school sweetheart in Sioux Falls. My husband works in the dirt work industry. Soon after marriage, we bought a puppy and named her Mollie. She has been the biggest adventure so far! She is a German Short-Haired Pointer. She loves to stay active 24/7! She especially loves to hunt pheasants and run in the fields.
Out of high school, the majority of my work experience was working in restaurants as a hostess or server and child care. I started working in assisted livings about 10 years ago as a caregiver and soon became a medication aid. I’ve been at Meadows just over 4 years now. I started as a med aid and took on the manager role 3 years ago.
I am passionate about healthcare and helping others live their best life; so much so, that I am currently pursuing a nursing degree.
I have been in a long-term relationship for over 6 years. We do not currently have any human children, however, we have 3 fur babies (pets) that keep us entertained.
Being in nursing school and working full time does not allow for much “free time”, but I do enjoy going to the gym to lift regularly and someday would like compete in women’s bodybuilding.
Previous Work Experience: Foreman for a construction company, flipped houses.
Healthcare Experience: This is my first time working in health care here at MOS. Every day is different, I like it here.
My Passion: Riding motorcycle, especially on the weekends. I feel free when riding. I have 3 motorcycles.
I have 2 children. My son is in Tennessee, and my daughter in Argentina with 1 grandson.
